Tiger Fella (Tig)

Hannah Gillott

Tig is a 16h TB who competes in all riding club activities and lower level BE competitions. He has thrived on Simple System for the past 2 years, but seemed to be lacking energy towards the end of the cross country in one day events, leading to time penalties and occasionally run-outs and refusals. We began feeding him a scoop of Red Bag Grass Pellets mixed in with his usual scoop each of LucieNuts and PuraBeet, which he ate after the dressage and before his cross country. I immediately spotted the difference and found him noticeably sharper physically and mentally right to the end of the cross country. In September 2010 he completed his first long-format 2 day event, coming home clear and still as keen as ever to jump.

When I heard about the new Joint Eclipse I jumped at the chance to try this on Tig - he's always had a tendency to look stiff and unsound when working in, and this has become even more obvious now that he's returning to work from a 3 month break. I started him on Joint Eclipse on the first Saturday after it came out, and by Wednesday he looked completely sound from the moment he began work - this usually only happens when he's at full fitness! A week later my mum watched him work, not having seen him since he started on Joint Eclipse, and as well as noticing a huge improvement in his way of going, she also commented that he looks a happier horse in general. We're both very excited about the upcoming eventing season!
