What can I feed instead of Meadow Forage Pellets?

10 February 2025

To increase diversity in the diet, we suggest feeding different forage types for your pellet, chop and balancer. An example Feed Plan suitable for most horses would be: Sainfoin Pellets (sainfoin), Perform & Shine (Cocksfoot and Timothy grass) and Simple Balance + (lucerne). For those requiring a condition boost, TopGain can be added to increase calorie density. For older horses those with diastemas, or poor dentition, substitute Perform & Shine with Blue Bag Grass Pellets.

NB.  All new feeds should be introduced gradually, ideally over the course of a week or more.

If you are unsure about feeding an alternative to Meadow Forage Pellets we suggest speaking with our friendly Feed Line experts. They can be reached on 01728 604 008 or by email to info@simplesystem.co.uk.
