Planning

13 January 2014

Happy New Year to everyone – Weather seems to be at the forefront of everyone’s minds again after some awful flooding and a lot of rain.  I carefully study the week's forecast of a Sunday evening and plan my days I can ride and work around the worst day being the day I give the horses off, I also plan my teaching and riding for other people in a similar way.   Obviously the forecast is not always right but I can get a general idea of the week ahead.  I am very lucky in that our winter grazing is on a hill so we are still able to turnout in all weathers, and there is also a lot of natural shelter.

The start of 2014 got my thinking about my goals and ambitions for the year – my personal goal is to become a listed Judge but unfortunately this depends entirely on British Dressage as I have to attend certain seminars and last year the only one was over 8hrs away from me!  With the horses, Jupiter is almost ready to now start competing at Medium level and he will hopefully contend the Hickstead and Shearwater 6yr old YH classes.  It is looking increasingly likely that Blossom will compete again (after the vets said she would never be ridden again!), I aim to work on her fitness over the next few months and then plan a small show for the end of April.  Finally, my lovely rising 3yr old will be lightly backed by myself and then shown in hand over the summer.

Wishing everyone a lucky and prosperous 2014!
