Winter weight loss, good, bad or something in between?
When the temperature decreases horses need more calories to keep warm so it is important to ensure our horses have enough food to sustain them.
Premium 6mm high protein grass pellets, providing all the benefits of spring grass.
Suitable For
Providing all the goodness of spring grass and high nutrition, Red Bag Grass Pellets are the feed of choice for high performance horses, racing, eventing, jumping or breeding high value foals early in the year. The energy is released a little more steadily than that from cereals, so horses should settle more quickly to their work and have more stamina. 100% pure and free from all binders.
As with any new feed, introduce gradually over a week.
Red Bag Grass Pellets are ideally fed soaked.
Alternatively, mix with soaked PuraBeet or a Simple System chop
and dampen well.
For foals, greedy, elderly or dentally challenged horses,
Red Bag Grass Pellets should be soaked.
Use 2.5 times their volume of water.
Feed according to requirement & condition.
Start with 100g per 100kg of bodyweight per day, increase as required up to a maximum of 5kg per day. For example, for a 500kg horse start with 500g per day (dry weight, before soaking) and increase as required.
A level Stubbs bowl scoop = 1.5kg (dry weight) approximately

Pulpits Farm have been loyal customers of Simple System for over 20 years.
We have been thoroughly pleased with the products & service offered to us over the years and have found Simple System Horse Feeds to be perfect for the wide range of different breeds we have here; including Arabs, Thoroughbreds, Highlands and other Native breeds (many of whom live out 24/7).
Gill Robinson, EssexWe are very keen to promote natural feeding of our native Highlands as they are not built to cope with rich higher sugar diets that you see in many other feeds. We also needed a straightforward and economical diet that could be used for our mares, stallions, foals and youngstock that would promote muscle development and bone growth without adding excess fat or fizz. With Simple System we have found exactly that.

When the temperature decreases horses need more calories to keep warm so it is important to ensure our horses have enough food to sustain them.
Winter can be a challenging time for our poor doers; grass quality declines offering much less nutritional value than in the warmer seasons and the cold weather makes use of energy stores for generating heat and staying warm.
There is an old saying that “no horse looks well at blackberry time†as the blackberries often appear when our horses are setting their winter coats
