MalleMash has just celebrated it's first birthday. In just 12 short months MalleMash has become the staple diet for so many horses - from itchy types, to natives, cobs and feathered breeds - it's become a firm favourite.
Whilst created as a convenient 'one bag' feed many of you have asked if you can add a chop to MalleMash as we head in to winter....
Why add a chop to MalleMash?

Adding a chop to MalleMash will add additional texture and prolong eating time. You can also add a chop to increase the calorie intake for those that need a more nutritious feed during the winter.
Deciding which chop to feed can be crucial. At Simple System we avoid molasses, cereal, cereal-by products, straw, soya and preservatives. These can all irritate sensitive horses.
Horses with dry itchy skin often need to avoid wheat as this can make the condition worse. Chops / chaffs containing straw will sometimes include grain and additives used during the crop's production. Choosing a straw free chop is key for such horses.
Which chop is best?
For good doers Timothy Chop is the best choice.
Made from pure, late-cut Timothy grass, Timothy Chop is high in fibre and low in sugar and starch. It is suitable for adding bulk to slow eating rate, without adding excessive calories.

For increasing forage variety NEW Sainfoin & Shine is an ideal option. It is also a good choice for the fussier feeder.
Made from sainfoin and cold pressed linseed oil, Sainfoin & Shine is nutritious, palatable and offers unique support to the hindgut. Most suitable for horses in work or breeding, but can also be fed to good doers in a lesser quantity.

For horses with higher nutritional needs opt for Perform & Shine.
Perform & Shine is a blend of Timothy and Cocksfoot grasses with a coating of cold pressed linseed oil. It is nutritious and suitable for poorer doers, horses in harder work, and those needing to gain weight.
