Vaccinating against strangles - a video diary from Simple Systems Nutrition Manager

07 May 2025

A must watch for anyone considering vaccinating their horse against strangles...

Strangles is the UK's most common infectious equine disease. This week is Strangles Awareness Week (SAW) and Simple System's Nutrition Manager,
Ellen, along with her rescue horse, Redwings Indigo, are proud campaign ambassadors.

As Indigo will be out competing this season (and therefore meeting horses outside of his closed herd), Ellen was keen to reduce the risks of contracting this highly contagious, and often serious, disease
.
Watch equine vet, Nicola, as she administers Indigo's first vaccine, answering frequently asked questions as she goes. Ellen then openly discusses Indigo's aftercare and side effects.

If you'd like to speak with Ellen about her experience, or if you require feeding advice, contact Simple System's Feed Line on 01728 604 008.
