Feed for veteran horses & horses with poor teeth
Many of our much loved equines are now living for longer and reaching their late twenties, early thirties. Even for those whose teeth appear "good", it is worth considering that with age, dental condition does start to decline and this can require more specialist feeding and management.
Gaps, called diastema, may begin to appear between the teeth from as young as 15 and with increasing age and use, teeth will inevitably become worn or loose making fibrous feeds such as chops, stalky grasses and hay/haylage difficult to manage.
Struggling to chew feed or forage may be evidenced by reduced intake or enthusiasm at meal times or visible quidding and dropping of feed. Our soaked forage pellets allow you to partially or fully replace their hay with nutritionally comparable but much easier to chew options.
For those who become poorer doers as they age, highly digestible and high protein forages such as lucerne or sainfoin can be used in their bucket feed to help maintain their condition and muscle tone whilst keeping sugar and starch naturally low for those with metabolic issues.
