Lily Pett joined Simple System's supported rider team in 2026, just before her 15th birthday. She regularly events and competes at dressage.
Meet Lily and her ponies...
- Snabo Star (Joey): A 14-year-old, 138cm Connemara gelding who loves to be the centre of attention - and to eat everything! Joey is Lily's main competition pony and is fed Red Bag Grass Pellets, Sainfoin Pellets and Veteran Balance +.
- The Longhouse Blue Pascal (Ash): A 16-year-old, 143cm Welsh part-bred mare. Ash is very sweet and lovable; she loves attention and is the perfect pony to have fun with, both in and out of the saddle. Ash is usually fed Red Bag Grass Pellets, Lucie Nuts and VB+, however she is currently in foal and as such Lily has changed her forage balancer to Stud Balance +.
- Chance: A 20 year old chestnut warmblood, bred by Lily's parents Amy and Jonathan Pett. Chance is fed Blue Bag Grass Pellets and Veteran Balance +.
An inspiring young rider, Lily has many successes under her belt. Her 'top tips' for other young riders are:
- Plan. Make a plan of which big shows you would like to aim for, and work backwards from there.
- Prepare. Be prepared by having a coaching, work and health schedule - for you as well as for your pony.
- Be dedicated. There may be times where you miss out on other things to stick to your training schedule. Ride as often as you can, but vary the work you do and be ready to work through problems, even when it's hard. Challenges are there to be overcome!
- Train over compete. We don't attend lots of competitions, probably two a month with each pony. Also, we never train at a show, everything is done before.
- Have fun. Make sure you and your pony have fun. Competing should be exciting!
