Mr. Bojangles

Mr. Bojangles (Bo) is a 15H 16 year old rescue horse that I have owned for 11 years. Last winter we had particular problems with his coat and overall condition. His coat was dull, scurfy, patchy and his itching was driving him to distraction and often he would itch until he drew blood. His topline was poor and although he is barrel ribbed, this winter even with plenty of good quality haylage and access to a stable as well as hard feed, he was ribby, and looked like he had aged several years having previously been a good doer. After contacting Simple System and speaking with Jane van Lennep I decided to try him on Simple System and subsequently changed my other 2 ponies as well. Initially he wasn't so keen on the food but we persevered as my other 2 ponies enjoyed it and the concept of forage based feeding made sense to me. After several emails and what I must say was excellent support and help from Jane, and re-working the diet and ratios of LucieNuts and Instant Linseed, as you can he is now looking so much better. The itching has gone, he is less scurfy, and we have finally got rid of the dull winter coat. I have also added Timothy chop to his feed to slow him down as he thoroughly enjoys his buckets now! I do believe that he went through a type of detox as his condition was up and down for about three months but then what literally felt like overnight, he started to look better and now as you can see from the photos, he is looking so much healthier, with an improved topline and a beautiful shine to his coat. His mood and disposition is improved too and he has a spring to his step again.
