Time flies when you're having fun!

10 June 2016

Time flies when you’re having fun! The long awaited arrival of this year’s first foal has come- a beautiful filly by our very own, (now gelded) Tommy. We have named this little filly Halle (possibly Hallelujah as a show name- still under some thought). Both mum and foal are looking great and considering Halle's mum has had quite a few foals, she is in amazing condition whilst being fed her Simple System feed. Halle is already very tall, elegant and confident like her dad. She adores people and loves being cuddled. However, she is still happy to cause mischief at any given opportunity, she certainly has character! There is also another addition to the yard, Chaska. Chaska is a 4yr old boxer that needed rehoming and now joins the rest of the pack; Retriever Sammy and Alsatian Puppy. Chaska has fitted in very well, always happy and bouncing around wanting to play. It’s been a great year so far for new clients and we've had a regular flow of horses coming in for backing and schooling. In addition to this, I have been training my existing clients who have been out and about gaining lots of ribbons. I took Ruby and Enora to Gareth Hughes for a couple of days training and the improvement in just two days was amazing and also quite motivating. We came away with lots of 'homework' and I am looking to booking my next trip at the end of July/ early August. These two have also been out to a couple of competitions over the last few months and are both developing nicely. They have both been placed and have received very positive comments from the judges. Nora also achieved her first score in excess of 70% just last week. They have also been enjoying some cross-country and show-jumping schooling for a bit of variety. Enora is getting quite a bit of experience now at all disciplines so that when I am ready to advertise her, she will be able to go in any sphere. We are actually starting to think she will make an exciting Eventing prospect! In other news, Willemien my competition mare, who injured herself in February, is now on the road to recovery! Which is fab news! However, I have had to make the tough decision to advertise her as a Broodmare or future ridden horse(after rehab) due to having so many young horses coming through. Whinny has produced some beautiful and talented foals and was a fantastic mum, so I am sure she would love to go back to her previous career. The recent storm caused a chaos at Honnington, a nearby yard that I rent with several acres for the mares and youngsters. Several trees fell down in the field breaking the fencing and my two year old filly, Ellie, injured herself which resulted in an expensive and stressful trip to the vets. Thankfully with first class treatment she is now back home for some R&R. Ellie is actually half -sister to 2 -month old Halle and has a massive fascination with her... I wonder if she knows they are related :). Fingers crossed in a couple of weeks’ time, Ellie can return to her big herd very soon. The next big thing is bringing young Fleur (my first homebred) and Tommy back into work. Also, my 3 year old, Saffyre, will be starting her backing process! Watch this space......
