Blog 20: Its all been going on..

Well the positivity has continued since my last post.. well mostly anyway! Drew and Lily have both been eventing again, I had a lovely relaxing holiday and taught at three brilliant but exhausting camps! Spain was lovely, and it was great to just have a few days not having to worry about the horses, with supermum at home looking after them!
I had a day to get sorted once I was back before heading off to Cranleigh School to teach at Surrey Union Midi Camp. My ride were fantastic and came on so much in the three days! Then I went straight on to Munstead where I was teaching at Mid Surrey Pony Club Senior Camp. I really enjoyed teaching some older members who I could focus on a bit more detail rather than just teaching them how to ride! They were great and always willing to give things a go which was really nice! Then I had one day off before heading back to Munstead for Mid Surrey Junior Camp. Again they were a joy to teach and I really enjoyed all the teaching I have done!
Back to my horses. Lily headed to Smiths Lawn last Tuesday for the Novice. We decided as she jumped so well round the Novice there last year we would give it another go. It was so nearly really good! She did a great dressage despite the polo match with shouting and screaming going on. She stayed focussed and gained several 8s coming out with a score of 29. The show jumping was really decent and quite tight, but she made nothing of it and popped round for a lovely clear. My old horse is slowly coming back and she feels so happy and confident now which is brilliant! The cross country was so nearly faultless. She set out confidently and was picking up when the distances were long in the combinations and generally finding it really easy. Unfortunately at one of the easiest fences on the course she spotted a photographer crouching down as she went to take off, so decided she better stop to make sure she wasn't about to be eaten (or whatever the thought was that was going through her head!) However she then jumped it on the second attempt and jumped beautifully the rest of the way home. Frustrating but we are definitely getting there now, so Wellington 100+ is next to boost confidence and then we will reasses after that.

Drew has been coming on leaps and bounds. He did his second event at Aston Le Walls yesterday and again showed his potential. He did another fantastic dressage despite lots going on to score 32.5. He has still got a lot more to come so it is really promising. His show jumping round was so much better. He kept a lovely canter rhythm and jumped a really nice round. Unfortunately he rolled two poles, although the round itself wasn't like that at all. He is still a little green but fundamentally he is a careful pony and with time he will be a double clear machine! Cross country, the only way to describe him was mega. He has been cross country 4 times and has never had a stop, he has the most fantastic attitude and just loves his cross country. I need to find him a new home where he will make someone the most fantastic little horse. I will really miss him as he is a lovely, happy pony.
