We had a great weekend at the BRC Nationals at Swallcliffe Park. On the first day we had to do our dressage and showjumping, we got a 33 test and clear jumping round which left us in 5th place in our section over night and 21st out of all the arenas. I exercised Riffie around the roads and tracks Saturday evening to get an idea of the route, she found this very exciting! Come Sunday Riffie was very relaxed. We had a good time on the roads and tracks and steeplechase making all the times, when we got to the x-country Riffie had her heart checked before we set off and the vet was pleased with her. We had a great round XC, Riffie was very bold and set herself at a good pace. Unfortunately we had 6 time faults for being 15 seconds to fast so knocked us from 4th to 12th in our arena and 52nd out of 110 competitors. It was a great weekend though and I would love to do it again!
For the second consecutive Sunday, presenter Adam Henson has discussed the use of sainfoin during Countryfile.
''Feed the mare to feed the foal'' - wise words from many an experienced breeder. With little grass due to the dry weather, grazing can be topped up in the feed bowl.
