Horse Feed

Simple System horse feed is 100% natural and forage-based - made from grass, lucerne, sainfoin and the other plants your horse has evolved to eat, with no cereals, no soya or other pulses, no molasses and no additives or preservatives.

Horses are built to live on fibre, little and often. Feed what nature intended and you get a horse that is better nourished, more settled in its work and at less risk of developing many common health problems, from one simple, honest range. Every product page shows the full ingredient list, analysis and feeding guide, so you always know exactly what is in the bag.

Free expert advice comes with every bag. Our Feed Line team will put together a personalised feed plan for your horse - call 01728 604 008 or request a feed plan online.

Why forage-based horse feed?

Horses evolved to graze for most of the day, so they are suited to a steady supply of fibre rather than a few large cereal meals. Every Simple System horse feed starts from forage - grass, lucerne, sainfoin and other plants a horse would naturally eat - dried and then chopped or pelleted so it is simple to feed. We leave out cereals, pulses such as soya and peas, molasses, additives and preservatives.

Because the whole range is built the same way, you can match the feed to your horse's forage, workload and type: low-energy options for good doers, higher-energy forages for horses in hard work, balancers to top up a forage diet, and hay replacers for when hay or haylage is short. Analysis figures, ingredients and feeding guidelines are on every product page, and our Feed Line will put together a free feed plan for your horse.

Horse feed FAQs

What is Simple System horse feed made from?

Plants a horse would naturally eat. Our feeds are based on grass, lucerne and sainfoin forages, with linseed and unmolassed beet pulp in some products, dried and then chopped or pelleted. We do not use cereals, pulses such as soya and peas, molasses, additives or preservatives.

Is Simple System horse feed cereal and molasses free?

Yes. Every feed in the range is made without cereals, molasses, soya and other pulses, additives or preservatives. Full ingredient lists and analysis figures are shown on each product page.

Which horse feed is best for my horse?

It depends on your horse's type, workload and the grass, hay or haylage already in the diet. Browse the categories above by product type, issue, workload or horse type, or ask our Feed Line on 01728 604 008 for a free, personalised feed plan.

How much Simple System feed should I give my horse?

Feeding guidelines are printed on every bag and shown on each product page. The right amount depends on your horse's bodyweight, workload and how much forage they already get, so if you are unsure, ask the Feed Line and we will work it out with you.

Do you make a hay replacer?

Yes. Several of our forages can be fed as a partial or complete replacement for hay or haylage, for example for older horses or when forage is in short supply. See the hay replacers category or ask the Feed Line which option suits your horse.

Can I buy Simple System horse feed online?

Yes. Order direct from this page for delivery to your door, or use our stockist finder to buy from a local feed merchant. Delivery options and any charges are shown on each product page and at checkout; selected products include free delivery.
